Map Setup - Drawing Paddock / Pasture Boundaries (Fences)

This article explains how to use the Map Setup Screen to draw your paddock/pasture boundaries.

Step 1: Access the map setup screen

  • Click on the cog wheel Cog Wheel in the top right of the screen. (1.)
  • Locate the Land section of the dashboard
  • Click on 'Map Setup'.(2.)

 

This will open the Map Setup screen with your current farm map at the top of the screen and your paddock/pasture list at the bottom.

Step 2: Setup Property Location

If this is your first time in this screen you may have a blank satellite image. If you haven’t provided your location previously your location will default to Sydney Australia.

You can either:

  • search for your properties address, or

  • drag the map pin to your properties location.

To search for your properties address:

  • Click on 'Search Address' (a)
  • Enter your property address.

If your property address cannot be found search for a location close to you and then use the steps below to drag the map pin to your location.

  • Use the '+' and '-' buttons to zoom in and out as needed. (b)

  • Click and hold down your left mouse key on the map pin. (c)

  • Drag the pin to the correct location.

  • Release the left mouse key to drop the pin.

  • Click on 'save' to save the location.(d)

 

 

Step 3: Open the 'Add Paddocks and Watering Points' tab.

  • Click on the 'Add Paddocks/Pastures and Watering Points' tab.

     

 

Step 4: Locate the paddock/pasture that you wish to draw a boundary for

  • Scroll down the page. Your paddock/pasture list will be displayed below your map.

  • Scroll down your paddock/pasture list until you find the name of the new paddocks/pastures that you have created.

Step 5: Add a new boundary

  • Click on '+ add boundary'.

  • Follow the instructions and draw in the boundary of the new paddock/pasture.

  • Click on 'clear boundary' if you wish to start again from scratch.

 

  • Click on the tick box beside the 'Use calculated Area' label if you would like MaiaGrazing to calculate the area of the new paddock/pasture for you.

OR

  • Click into the data entry box under 'Area'

  • Enter the area of the paddock/pasture

Step 6: Save your paddock boundary

  • Click on 'Save' when you are finished.

Repeat for any other pastures on your paddock/pasture list that require boundaries.

Map Setup- Editing Paddock / Pasture Boundaries

You can also edit the boundaries of any paddocks/pastures by clicking on the 'edit' button beside the name of the paddock/pasture.
