Example Report

Below is an example report filtered to Stock Class for a financial year:

  • Opening Values are determined by calculating a weighted average of all the $ values given to each stock group within that stock class. (1) The weighted average is calculated by the percentage of animals that are at a particular value, for example if 60% of the animals in that stock class are valued at $1000 and 40% are valued at $900 then the value would be: ($1000 x 60%) + ($900 x 40%) = $960.00.

  • Closing Values are calculated the same way as the opening values, based on the values for each stock class on the closing date of the report. (2)

  • Purchase Values are also calculated using a weighted average for all animals purchased in that stock class for the reporting period selected. (3) For example if 50 steers are purchased at $900/head, 40 steers are purchased for $1200/head and 10 steers are purchased for $1100/head in the reporting period selected then the Purchase Value for the stock Class Steers would be calculated by: ($900 x 50%) + ($1200 x 40%) + ($1100 x 10%) = $1040/head.

  • Sales Values are calculated the same way as the purchase values, based on the values for each stock class sale during the report period. (4)
