Livestock transfers represent a movement between stock classes or business units.
Livestock can move between stock groups frequently. For example the life cycle of a sheep may be Lambs > Weaners > Maiden Ewes > Breeding Ewes > Cull Ewes. Or for cattle. Calf > Weaner > Maiden Heifer > Breeder > Dry Cow > Cull Cow. To account for this in MaiaGrazing we use the transfer function.
Check that that you have the stock group available in your settings tab to be used for the transfer.
-
Click on the cog wheel in the right hand corner of the screen to open the settings dashboard
-

Worked Example
In this example I have a mob/herd that includes some calves that I want to transfer into the weaners stock group.
I hover my mouse over the 3 dots
beside the name of my mob/herd. In this case it is "Breeding Cattle Mob".
This opens a drop down box with more action options. I then use my mouse to highlight 'Transfer' and click to select.
This will open the transfer screen.
I enter the date and then click on the drop down box to select the stock group that I want to transfer from. (Only animals that existed in the selected mob on the date entered will be available for me to transfer)
Then I click on the drop down box under "Stock Group To" to select the stock group I wish to move them too.
This will open up the details of the transfer where I can enter how many of the "from" stock group I wish to transfer.
I enter 49 head in this box.
Then I will click on Save.
This will take me back to the mob/herd list screen.
If I click on the drop down arrow beside my Breeding Cattle Mob it still looks as though I have 49 calves in this mob. To change this I need to change the label of the transferred stock.
I click on the name of Breeding Cattle Mob from the mob list to open the mob/herd management screen.
I locate the calves/mixed weaners that you have just transferred.
I hover my mouse over their box stock and double click with my left mouse button to toggle edit mode.
Then I type over the current label with a new label name. In this case I am changing the label to be "Mixed Weaners"
I click on save.
I go back to my mob/herd list and my mob/herd now shows like this:
