Agistment / Custom Grazing

The best way to move agistment /custom grazed animals onto and off your property in Maia Grazing is to use a  $0 value purchase to introduce the livestock into the program and a $0 value sale to remove the livestock when the livestock leave the property. This creates a searchable and date specific record in the Maia system. 

To keep the production for your agistment /custom grazing separate from the production for you own livestock it is important that they are setup correctly.

This article explains how to:

• setup a new enterprise for your Agistment/Custom Grazing

• setup a new stock group for your Agistment/Custom Grazing

• purchase in your Agistment/Custom Grazing mob/herd

To setup agistment / custom grazing as a new enterprise.

• Click on the settings cog wheel  on the right hand side of your screen to open the settings dashboard.

• Click on Stock Class Setup from the left hand menu. (1)

• Click on 'Add New Stock Class' (2)

• Enter a unique name for your agistment / custom grazing stock class in the new text box (3)

• Click on 'Save & Close' (4)

 

• Click on 'Enterprise Setup' from the left hand menu.

• Click on 'Add New Enterprise' (5)

• Click into the text box that opens up and name your enterprise (6)

• Click on 'Save & Close' (7)

 

 

For each enterprise, you must create at least one Stock Group to place the animals into. There are three methods.

1. If your only interest in the agisted animals is their total grazing demand, you can set up a single unique stock class eg. Agistment Animals or Agistment DSE, which then becomes a single Stock Group, with no recognition of age, sex or class.

2. If you prefer to record the various classes of animals within an Agistment Enterprise (cow, bull, steer, calf) then you link existing Stock classes to that Enterprise via the Stock Group screen.

3. If you have multiple Agistment clients, you can choose to segment them at either the enterprise or stock group levels. This is best discussed with a member of our support team.

For this example I will be using one new stock class, one new enterprise, and one new stock group for each client.

To setup stock groups for agistment / custom grazing.

• Click on 'Stock Group Setup' from the left hand menu.

• Click on 'Add New Stock Group' (8)

• Click on your agistment / custom grazing stock class (9)

• Click on your agistment / custom grazing enterprise (10)

• Type in a unique name for your agistment / custom grazing stock (11) 

• Click on 'Save and Close' (12)

Purchasing in your agistment / custom grazing mobs/herds.

• Click on 'Operations'

• Click on 'Purchase livestock'

• Complete the consignment details as you would for any other purchase but leave the price of the animals set as zero.

• Save the purchase.

You can now treat this mob/herd as you would any other mob/herd of animals. They can be moved, split, merged, treated, have their feed demand rating updated, or be entered into a grazing plan.

Selling Agistment/Custom grazing mobs/herds

When the agistment / custom grazing ends enter a sales transaction to remove the livestock from your account.
