Carry Forward Rating, Weight & Price for a Stock item

When editing ratings, weight or price in the mob details page, you can update it for that date only, or carry forward the edit to today.

Keeping stock ratings (DSE, SAU, LSU kg.DM, AU, LB.DM) as accurate as possible ensures that your grazing data is spot on. Sometimes we get behind in record keeping and need to catch up, particularly when we are ready to set new grazing plans at the change of season.

This article is to help you understand the new prompt that comes up when making edits to Rating, Weight or Price/unit values from the Mob details page for a past date. Below is the prompt that shows up:

Purpose

The purpose of this prompt is to provide you with the choice on how you want changes to stock item values (rating, weight and price) to flow through following changes in the stock item history. Please note that this prompt is NOT for changes to number of head.

What do the Options mean?

The two options that are given in the prompt are:

  1. Yes, apply this change to ALL subsequent events on this stock item up to Today, is the default option, which when selected will override all the subsequent records on the stock item history from the selected date until today for all of Rating, Weight and Price. Future dated records will not be updated with these changes.

  2. No, only apply this change to selected date, which when selected will save the attributes from the selected date until the date of next saved record on history for the stock item. This will not impact other attribute changes already made on the stock item from moves, events or manual observations

EXAMPLES:

Let's say we have a stock item with a history like below:

The above example is stock item history with transactions from 1st September (Past) to 10th October (Future) also including a record from 2nd October (Today)

When a user goes back to 10th September to retrospectively change the Rating & weight for the above stock item, then the prompt will appear with the two options. If user chooses Option '2', there will not be any updates to other records to the stock item history.

All prior records remain as they were and a new record for 10th September has been created.

If I select the date as 25th September and choose option '1', then a new record will be added on 25th and all subsequent records will be updated with the values from the newly added record (excluding future dated records).

Note that number of head is not affected by these changes.
