Create a Leader/Follower Graze Plan
This article explains how to create a grazing plan scenario for a leader/follower grazing model.
Leader/follower grazing is when a priority mob grazes a paddock/pasture first, with a secondary mob coming into the same paddock straight after the first mob has finished. Different paddock/pasture sizes and mob sizes/grazing demand can make this a little complicated. This method is a simple method that will tell you how much feed will be consumed after both mobs have grazed the one paddock/pasture.
Step 1: Navigate to the plan
· Click on 'Planning' Tab
· Click on 'Grazing Plans'
· Click on '+ New Grazing Plan'
Step 2:
Populate your Grazing Plans specifications. For instructions on how to create a graze plan, see here:
Create a Growing Season Graze Plan
Create a Non Growing Season Graze Plan
Step 3:
Add your 'Other Mobs for scenario checking'. These will be your followers.
Step 4:
Choose 'Save Plan' (NOT Save Plan and Commit to Chart)
Maia Grazing will calculate the grazing demand based on the two mobs grazing as one. For a more specific plan by mob, please click here to contact a member of our grazing team, and we can help you put this together.
