Paddock/Pasture Forage Budgeting

The ability to grass budget is essential for a grazing businesses. A grass budget will ensure you are matching supply with demand (reduce the risk of running out of feed) as well as allowing adequate rest and regeneration periods for pastures.

 The following options will instruct you on how to add a pasture observation.

Reading the Data:

 Look at your Pasture Inventory

  • Click on the 'Operations' tab
  • Click on 'Land' in the left hand menu
  • Click on 'Forage Inventory'

The pasture inventory in MaiaGrazing requires all pasture observations to be up to date. It then takes the current stocking rate (total number of LSU/DSE/AU on the property/ranch) and uses the feed available to show the total number of days of grazing available with no growth. It is a great tool to use at the start of a non-growing season.

Note: Stock that are in the Yards or Agistment Out paddocks are not included on the stocking rate for the property.
