Getting Started in MaiaGrazing PRO

The first steps in setting up your property/ranch in MaiaGrazing

Welcome to MaiaGrazing PRO.

As a PRO subscription holder the MaiaGrazing support team is here to help make your setup as straight forward as possible.

The steps below outline what you need to know to begin the setup process on your own.


Step 1: Complete your land setup

You can create your paddocks/pastures in MaiaGrazing two ways.

  1. By importing a digital map file. Click HERE to learn how to import a map file into MaiaGrazing.

  2. Manual setup your paddocks/pasture. Click HERE to learn how to setup your paddocks/pastures in MaiaGrazing.

Setup rainfall sites

In MaiaGrazing you can have one or more rainfall gauges and these can be linked to particular paddocks/pastures or to whole paddock/pasture groups. Click HERE to learn how to set-up rainfall gauge/s.

Setup your map

You can start using the program with out a map. Feel free to skip this step and come back later if you wish.


Step 2: Complete your livestock setup

Create your stock classes

Stock classes can be anything that you would like them to be. Most people stick to generic names (eg. heifers, steers, ewes, rams, etc.)

Create your enterprises

Activities with separate income streams. For example: Trading, Breeding, Custom Grazing. Stock classes are allocated to enterprises by using Stock Groups

Create your stockgroups

A pairing between a stock class and an enterprise that is given a unique name.

Create your mobs

A group of animals that graze together in the same paddock/pasture at the same time. Can contain multiple species and classes.


Step 3: Enter historical monthly rainfall

By entering your historical data the analytical side of MaiaGrazing will work straight away and allow you to have meaningful information immediately.

How much rainfall data is enough?

We recommend between 2 and 20 years rainfall history. The more history you enter, the more accurate your forecasts and averages will be.

Don't have enough of your own rainfall data?

If you do not have enough historical rainfall data you can use reliable sources to fill the gaps.

Step 4: Enter historical monthly stockdays

We recommend that you enter a minimum of 12 months of stock data. In MaiaGrazing we enter this data by using monthly stockdays.
